Teach For America finds, develops, and supports a diverse network of leaders who expand opportunity for children from classrooms, schools, and every sector and field that shapes the broader systems in which school operate. Our corps members spend two years teaching in a high-need public school, receiving professional development while gaining leadership development in responding to issues that stem from educational inequity. Not only do we bring new teachers into classrooms across the state, but also we develop them as leaders and effective advocates for opportunity in education.
In addition to the support we provide during their inital two-year commitment, we also provide resources to help our experienced alumni teachers stay in the classroom, and to support our alumni development as leaders for schools and community institutions across Louisiana. In Louisiana alone, over 1,500 TFA corps members and alumni serve in roles as principals, policy makers, and non-profit leaders in partnership with their communities.
