Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal

The Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal was established in 1993 to be awarded to members of the United States military (active duty, reserve and National Guard) who perform substantial volunteer service to the local community beyond the duties required by military service. The requirements are that the volunteer service was directed towards the civilian community (including military families), of a significant nature which produces tangible results, and have a direct and sustained impact.
