University of Louisiana at Lafayette AmeriCorps

The UL Lafayette AmeriCorps motto is "building civic responsibility and leadership skills in college students through service." Members provide in-school and after-school tutoring for at-risk elementary school students, help build affordable housing, and construct wheelchair access ramps for local residents.  The program also partners with other agencies on short-term projects from park cleanups to disaster recovery.  UL Lafayette AmeriCorps members receive comprehensive training throughout the year on a wide range of topics and plan and design their own service projects to meet community needs.
