The Garden Variety
Parishes Served: VernonStudents who are in both regular and special education enrolled as part of the Options III program will experience activities that build their self esteem and increase their skills in the areas of communication, collaboration, self-advocacy, and critical inquiry. Activities for students will include collaborative efforts with adult vocational students, management teams, teachers, peers, and vocational instructors as they plan, design, build, and install a variety of items designed to aid individuals with disabilities. Items built will include such things as: raised gardens, lower book shelves, small lap blankets for nursing home wheel chairs, bird and duck houses, etc... Students will assemble together family disaster supplies kit for disaster situations. Beneficiaries will include senior citizens living in assisted living facilities, school age with disabilities, all students enrolled at Lamar Salter, Vernon Parish 4-H students enrolled in grades four through six, and the community neighborhood.
