Project INVEST
Parishes Served: LincolnProject INVEST is an investment by The IDEA Place, Lincoln Parish School Board, area high schools and a community of volunteers including RSVP and other community members who are determined to prepare and support future employees, volunteers, and students in the community. This will be accomplished through a tiered volunteer program that offers support measures such as tutoring, workforce development, and service project development. The program is based on the career ladder explainer model utilized at the New York Hall of Science. Students will spend a minimum of three hours each week with tutors and instructors to improve academic and workforce skills. A unique component of the INVEST Project in the partnership with The IDEA Place Math and Science Discovery Center on the campus of Louisiana Tech University. Students participating in the project will learn about and work with existing exhibits and experiments while also developing their very own presentations to the public. Student in the project will serve as guides for the science center.
