DHS Bears Serving the Community
Parishes Served: RichlandStudents' academic successes encourage them to remain in school, as do opportunities to see the real world of work and the faces that make up their communities and society. Relevant opportunities incorporated into academics by working with two businesses and city water officials to study community water quality and explore ways to maintain or improve water quality with the addition of a new agricultural processing plant into the community will promote academic successes. These opportunities will strengthen the relationships among the school, community and individuals. Partners will assist students with testing water quality, explaining ways in which their business operations can impact water quality, and assist students in developing strategies for monitoring and improving conditions that could negatively impact the community's water quality.
