Childhood Obesity Prevention
Parishes Served: LincolnStudents will participate in a yearlong school program called Dubach Childhood Obesity Prevention. Intervention meetings, designed in a club meeting format, will be held once a week for one hour after school at Dubach High School. The intervention also includes a family component designed to reinforce and support healthy eating and physical activity messages delivered in the program. The physical activity intervention goals are for students to 1) increase the frequency of participation in sustained, moderate-to-vigorous intensity activities; 2) decrease time spent in sedentary activities; and 3) experience feelings of enjoyment, physical competence and self confidence in performing a range of physical activities.
