Art Smart
Parishes Served: LivingstonArt Smart will encompass a variety of learning activities, including classroom instruction, hands-on service hours, site-based learning, creative expression activities and quality time developing mentoring relationships. After classroom instruction on art and language arts to meet learning goals and objectives, gifted and talented students in grades 3-12 will develop leadership skills as they apply their new knowledge to teach and mentor pre-kindergarten (pre-K)students with learning challenges and low incomes. Gifted and talented students will plan and implement lessons including art and language arts skills for the pre-K students. Art Smart will be interactive, interdisciplinary, and cross-curricular meeting the needs of a wide range of student ages and abilities. The project's theme will encourage historical and cultural learning about our state. Local community resources will provide in-kind support, including businesses and professionals donating time and resources to the project.
