World Class Service Learning
Parishes Served: St. CharlesHigh School students in the Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Administration and Culinary Arts courses will complete a series of community impact projects throughout the 2010 - 2011 school year. Students apply career skills and provide world class service during these events. Our clients and events include (but are not limited to): St. Charles Parish Rotary Club - conducting an economic impact analysis for the Alligator Festival and hosting their annual Christmas Function; St. Charles Parish Government and LaBranche Wetland Watchers - hosting a gala for construction of the first public nature trail in the parish; St. Charles Parish School Board - hosting an Arts Awareness Festival, Teacher of the Year Banquet and Patron Tours; Brown Foundation - assisting with their annual service learning celebration; Ozanam Inn - planning and preparing a meal for 250 homeless men and women; National World War II Museum - assisting with special events; Destrehan Plantation - educating the youth about plantation life during its annual Heritage
Festival; St. Charles Business Association - planning menu and hosting business luncheons; Jean Lafitte National Park - educating tourists about the local culture and history of New Orleans.
